Les Merles
Lajonie Vineyards
On a 70 hectare plot of land, the estate is divided between the communes of Mouleydier and Saint Sauveur located 8 km north-east of Bergerac on the right bank of the Dordogne. The vineyard benefits from a temperate oceanic climate, and is well exposed to the south allowing exceptional sunshine at midday and in the east. This local climate favours a good maturity of the grapes and a concentration of sugars and aromas. The particularity of our vineyard comes from its soil of "Périgord sand and gravel" resulting from the transformation of the granite rocks of the Massif Central. The terroir has undergone superficial leaching, carrying away the clay and iron in the subsoil. This deep and impermeable layer, called "tran", gives our wines the taste of terroir so typical of the appellation.
